Services
-
Get an opinion on the first 10,000 words of your manuscript.
This is what agents/publishers will read, and it is really important to perfect this. You could have a finished manuscript or have just started writing, and would like expert advice on how the beginning is reading.
You will receive an editor’s letter with overall feedback, and clear, actionable steps to refine this section, and ideas for how to proceed.
-
Get feedback at regular intervals on the next section you write.
You are someone who writes at your own pace, and appreciate getting feedback as you go.
You will submit up to 5,000 words every month (exact length and frequency can be discussed to suit your needs), and receive an editor’s note on how the work is progressing with respect to storyline, consistency and overall impact.
If helpful, this can be supplemented by a 30-minute call to discuss the next section before you start writing again.
-
Get an in-depth review of your draft manuscript, finished or unfinished.
You have either completed the work and would like feedback on how to refine it further, or progressed far enough (>30k words) and hit a wall, unsure of how to proceed.
You will receive an editor’s letter with in-depth advice on structure, characters and voice, and clear suggestions on actionable improvements.
If helpful, this can be supplemented by a 30-minute conversation.
-
Get a full report, line edits and pitching ideas on your finished manuscript.
You have completed the work and revised it, but want to collaborate with an editor to realise its full potential before you submit or self-publish.
You will receive an editor’s letter with in-depth advice on structure, character and voice, plus your full manuscript annotated and line-edited with Track Changes on. This will be supplemented by a 1-hour conversation to discuss the feedback and how you can best pitch it to the industry.

All forms of creative prose typically written for adults are welcome: novel, collection of short stories, memoirs, narrative nonfiction. Genre no bar. It could be literary or commercial, crime or romance or fantasy. The goal is to tell a good story in the best way possible.
Please note that we do not edit poetry, picture books, children’s fiction, and pieces of journalism.
-
The short answer is no. A good story can come from anywhere and be told by anyone. We are big believers in diversity of all kinds. Santanu is a queer global majority writer himself, and much of his writing addresses themes relating to this intersectional identity. We especially welcome under-represented voices and untold stories. Understanding cultural context is a key part of the editorial process, and we will learn from you before diving in.
-
Yes. Everyone is welcome to seek collaboration, regardless of whatever stage of the writing journey they are at. Across the board, we maintain utmost confidentiality of your work and personal details.
-
Not really. We focus on working on the piece at hand, and making it the best it possibly can.

Turnaround times can differ based on the length of your submission, the service and other workload. We will work with you to agree a timeline before starting the process.

While there is some editorial help out there, it is still rare to work directly with an author who has written and published multiple books and short pieces, and understands the nuances of the writing process and industry expectations. The approach we take is broad and deep, tailored to the work at hand, and your inspirations and motivations for writing it.
-
Once we understand your work and needs, we will discuss with you a potential pricing for how we think we can work best together. Please fill in this form for starters, and we will take it from there.
-
While we are not in a position to offer scholarships at this time, and we do not work directly with grant-making organisations, we encourage you to apply for grants yourself and use the resources for developing your writing, if you so wish. However, we may be able to offer discounts in specific contexts. Please fill in this form to tell us more about yourself.
